Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.Log in to add notes

I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.Log in to add notes

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?Log in to add notes

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.Log in to add notes

Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?Log in to add notes

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?Log in to add notes

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.Log in to add notes

Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.Log in to add notes

Epistle — St Anna

Galatians 4.22-31

Read in context

For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.Log in to add notes

But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.Log in to add notes

Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.Log in to add notes

For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.Log in to add notes

But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.Log in to add notes

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.Log in to add notes

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.Log in to add notes

But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.Log in to add notes

Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.Log in to add notes

So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.Log in to add notes
