Epistle

1 Corinthians 12.12-26

Read in context

12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.Log in to add notes

13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.Log in to add notes

14For the body is not one member, but many.Log in to add notes

15If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?Log in to add notes

16And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?Log in to add notes

17If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?Log in to add notes

18But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.Log in to add notes

19And if they were all one member, where were the body?Log in to add notes

20But now are they many members, yet but one body.Log in to add notes

21And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.Log in to add notes

22Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:Log in to add notes

23And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.Log in to add notes

24For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:Log in to add notes

25That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.Log in to add notes

26And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.Log in to add notes

Epistle — St Anna

Galatians 4.22-31

Read in context

22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.Log in to add notes

23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.Log in to add notes

24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.Log in to add notes

25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.Log in to add notes

26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.Log in to add notes

27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.Log in to add notes

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.Log in to add notes

29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.Log in to add notes

30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.Log in to add notes

31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.Log in to add notes
