1For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;Log in to add notes

2To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;Log in to add notes

3Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.Log in to add notes

4Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.Log in to add notes

5And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:Log in to add notes

6But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.Log in to add notes

9Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.Log in to add notes

10And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.Log in to add notes

11And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.Log in to add notes

12And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.Log in to add notes

13Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.Log in to add notes

14But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.Log in to add notes

15So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?Log in to add notes

16He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.Log in to add notes

17And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?Log in to add notes

18Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.Log in to add notes
